Urbex – Narvacan abandonned lodge

Making our way south along Marcos Highway, our driver stopped the car and pointed to an abandoned building a little off the highway. It was just a few minutes after we’ve entered the town of Narvacan in Ilocos Sur, Philippines. The lodge was gated but it wasn’t really locked off so we made our way in.

The traveller’s’ lodge, established in 1981, appeared to have delivered a restful stop to its patrons during its operation. It had spacious air-conditioned rooms, each with queen-sized beds and cabinets and a few with their own bathrooms. There were also shared dormitory-style toilets and showers, one on each end of the hall. Outside the building were individual spots to hangout in under trees as well as a pool with a view of the Philippine Sea crashing against the rocky beach. It was abandoned in 1989 according to some documents we’ve found by the reception area.

As of July, 2019, the lodge is now used as a storage facility for some government equipment. The walls and general structure is still solid. The ceilings however, are dilapidated and falling off. Rooms have decaying bed frames and cabinets. The room floors are now laced with the debris of the collapsed ceiling. You can also find a decaying mattress left along the hall.

In exploring the area, know that some cabinets and office drawers are now home to several kittens ready to jump at you (as our photographer would claim) or away from you once you’ve disturbed their homes/rest.
