Tungstene – Part I

A few years back, as a teenager, I got bored one night and an idea was born: replacing the gas inside a lighbulb and watch it the oxygen destroys the tungsten filament.
Years later, I wanted to explore the subject in depth.
The result of this project gave birth to this serie of photographs, a well as a slow motion movie.
Operatating both cameras while vaporising the tungsten was tricky, so I ask my good friend Mirit Mikhail to help me out with the video part, which she did.

This was an incredible experience, but also difficult to set up.

Please, do not try this at home!
Tungsten is toxic when vaporised. Inhaling it will damage your lungs.
Touching it as it lights up will result in third-degree burns and electrocution.
